My camera was a true pal in ushering me through a lot of life changes in my 20s. During that time, I took photography courses and also had insightful visits with my old psychology professor, Paul Antrobus, who shared in my newfound joy of photography.
He asked me, "What do you see when you take photos?" At that time, he was paralyzed from the neck down and I would bring pieces of the world though photos in to him at the rehab centre with a meditation of words for each photo.
I have since been revisiting the question "What do you see?" as a way to use photography to not only slow down and be mindful of my surroundings, but as a way to have fun with words, thoughts, and the release of it all. It brings me joy and discovery not only of the world but of myself.
I invite you to try. I would love to see what you come up with.
